POST-CONFERENCE  2003

Request for Proposals

If you’ve used technology in your teaching in some way that you think others might find interesting and useful, this would be a great opportunity to share your experience. Take a look at the three Session Types described below, then submit your proposal on-line by Friday, October 25, 2002. The Conference Coordinating Committee will review all of the proposals and let you know the status of yours by the end of October.

Session Types:

Repeating Presentation: These will be 25-minute sessions that may be repeated once. You might show how you’ve used some technology in your teaching, e.g., chat rooms, on-line research projects, on-line practice tests, or digitized video clips to trigger class discussions. The sessions will be limited to 25-minutes, include presentation and Q & A.  They will be repeated once after a 5-minute break to allow people to move on to another session.  We’ll provide a PC and a video projector so that everyone can see what you’re talking about.

50 Minute Presentation: 50-minute sessions in which you might describe some use of technology in teaching (e.g., a stand-alone WebCT course), demonstrate a technology tool (e.g., PhotoShop, on-line surveys), or summarize some pertinent data you’ve collected.  These will be concurrent sessions, but in different rooms.  Internet connections, video projectors, and screens will be available.

Workshop: These will be 50-minute opportunities to teach how to do something (e.g., use a software package or WebCT tool; organize and manage on-line quizzing, testing, and grading).  We’ll provide the room, an Internet connection, a video projector, and a screen.
