Why am I getting "WebCT is not configured to run inside a frameset"?

Some components may not work correctly.  Students are getting the above error message occasionally when logging into WebCT because they Click on a course link on the my WebCT page then before the course home page finishes loading.

Close out of the web browser, reopen it and log-in to WebCT again.  Be sure to wait for the page to finish loading before clicking on anything.

Why do I get "Access denied" when I try to log into my course?

You will need to contact your Instructor. This is commonly an indicator that a student has added/dropped and added the course again. When this happens student information is retained in the course, but access is denied until the Instructor alters some settings. You will need to contact the Instructor.

Why am I getting a "403 forbidden or Access Denied " error when trying to log in?

Check to see if cookies are enabled within your browser, going through the Check Browser page usually resolves the issue.

If this does not resolve the issue, you should check for spyware.

"Error - Request forbidden" when trying to get to the login page.

This is caused by the Starware toolbar which is adware.  The Starware Toolbar is an IE Toolbar offering Search, Weather, Reference, and other capabilities. It hijacks the IE SearchAssistant and the 404 error page to its own search site.  To disable the tool bar, you will need to click on the star icon on the left and choose Preferences.  Remove the check mark next to the "Use Error Search" option.  Close out of the browser and reopen it again and try accessing the WebCT login page.  If you continue to receive the error message, you will need to uninstall the Starware toolbar thru Add/Remove Programs found in the Control Panel.

Why am I getting "Error: The filename contains an invalid character?"

This error may occur when you are trying to upload a file into WebCT as an attachment to:

This is usually the result of including a blank space into the name of the file you are trying to get into WebCT.

"WebCT Authentication error 1005"

This error occurs because WebCT will not accept upper case letters in your username.
Please re-enter your username using only lowercase letters.

Why am I getting an ACCESS DENIED error when clicking on a course link in the MyWebCT page?

It is possible for a registered student to be denied access to a course. This most often occurs if you have dropped a course, and then re-registered. If you can see the course listed, but receive an ACCESS DENIED error, only your Instructor can reinstate you.
