Password Reset Policy

MyCCRI (Pipeline) and BlackBoard/WebCT accounts provide secure access to a broad range of resources. Therefore, in order to protect your privacy, processes for resetting the MyCCRI  or BlackBoard/WebCT account passwords are restrictive.

Students, faculty and staff MUST present proper identification in order to have passwords reset. It will be necessary for the Information Technology Help Desk to make positive identification of individuals requesting password resets. In order to achieve this, we ask for your cooperation in complying with one of the following procedures:

  1. Self-Service Solution: Use the web interface at https://webfor.ccri.edu/cp/resetpw.cfm (MyCCRI) and http://webct.ccri.edu/webct/public/forgotpass.pl (/BlackBoard/WebCT) to reset forgotten passwords. Users enter personal information to identify themselves. This option is ALWAYS available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year..
  2. If you are not on campus (Distance Learning student, etc.), you will need to complete the  Student Password Reset Form (PDF*)which you can fax (or e-mail a scanned copy to helpdesk@ccri.edu) along with a copy of your CCRI ID card the to the IT Help Desk fax number 825.2418. The Help Desk is open from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM EST Monday through Friday.
  3. If you are on campus, bring your CCRI ID card to the IT Help Desk located in room 2113, second floor at the Knight Campus. ONLY valid CCRI ID cards (or other means of photograph ID) will be accepted as proof of account ownership.

This policy protects students, faculty and staff from identity theft, fraud or privacy invasion. It exists, with the best of intentions, to help protect accounts and personal information associated with them.

Soon, CCRI will be shifting to a mandatory password change policy determined by “best practices” of security departments across all of higher education. Password changes will be mandated and enforced on a regular basis to a particular level of secure access. Though this is a significant change to the way CCRI does business, it follows the path of all colleges and universities across the country.
