Steps for installing Java for Banner 7

Step 1Once you click on the Banner Login button for the first time, you will be prompted to install Sun Microsystems' version of Java. When the dialog box opens asking, Do you want to install this software? click Install. |

Step 2The Sun Microsystems License Agreement will appear. Make sure that the option Typical setup - All recommended features will be installed is selected and then click Accept. |

Step 3 |
| The Google Toolbar And Google Desktop dialog box will open. Remove the check mark in front of Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer by clicking in the box. Click Next. |

Step 4 |
| The Installing window will open while files are downloaded. |

Step 5 |
| When the Installation Completed window appears, click Finish. |

Step 6 |
| A Software Installation window will appear indicating that the software you are about to install has not passed Windows logo testing. Click Continue Anyway. |
Step 7 |
| Right click on the Java icon located in the system tray, next to the time, and select Open Control Panel (left click). |

Step 8 |
| From the Java Control Panel click on the Update tab, remove the checkmark in front of Check for Updates Automatically and then click Apply. |

| Once you click Apply, the Java Update - Warning window will open. Click the Never Check button. Then click OK to close the Java Control Panel. |

Step 10 |
| The Banner Logon box will then appear for you to login to Banner. However, if you get a message that the WEB Client Version too old, you probably have a new version of Java and it must be removed. Please call the Help Desk at x1112 and we will walk you thru removing it. |
