Guidelines for Appropriate Use of College Owned Laptops
Use of the laptop should be in compliance with the college’s Responsible Use
of Information Technology policy.
The laptop computer is provided for your use, but it remains the property of
CCRI. Laptops must be returned to the Information Technology Help Desk if your
employment at the college ends.
Theft or loss that occurs on campus should be reported to the CCRI Campus
Police. For theft or loss off campus, you should report the disappearance to the
local police and notify the Campus Police upon returning to campus.
The laptop is configured to be used on and off campus and includes our
standard supported software programs. You may install other work related
software as long as you are in compliance with copyright laws and college
policies for appropriate use of software.
You are responsible for maintaining an appropriate backup of your
work-related documents and data files. You are also responsible for the security
and confidentiality of any administrative data that you might save on your
laptop in accordance with the college’s Data
Security Policy.
IT support of college owned laptops will be equivalent to that provided for
college owned desktop computers. First level troubleshooting will be provided
via phone or email by the IT Help Desk. However, subsequent levels of support
will require the laptop to be worked on either in a campus office or via a
delivery to the IT Help Desk.
Your signature below indicates that you have read this appropriate use
statement and have had your questions about appropriate laptop use answered.
This agreement must be signed before a laptop can be issued through this
program.
