General Purpose Software Information Technology provides general-purpose software that will be included on all electronic classroom and lab computers, which can be used in your courses. If you are only using this software with your classes, you do not have to let us know. Primarily we just need to know about software that is not normally included. Our general purpose software includes:
Special Purpose (Course-Specific) Software Any special purpose (course-specific) software and licensing has to be purchased by your department. When you request special purpose software to be made available in public labs, Information Technology department will need the licensing agreement to ensure that the planned use complies with legal regulations.
Faculty who plan to purchase new software or upgrades for existing software must contact Diane Ruscito, Information Technology, Knight Campus either via phone: 825-2299, fax: 825- 2418 or e-mail (ruscito@ccri.edu) to discuss their plans. Information Technology staff will need to test any special software in advance to ensure that it works properly in our computing environment before the start of each semester. This includes CDs that accompany text books that may be used in the labs.
Because of the time needed for testing and license review, faculty who need special purpose software are urged to contact Diane and fax the licensing information by April 20 for the Summer semester, July 16 for the Fall semester, and by December 1 for the Spring semester.
Please list ALL special purpose software you plan to use in your courses including those you have used in the past that you would like to continue using. Remember to note the version of the software.
