Resetting A WebCT Course

At the end of each semester it is advisable to clear a course of all unique data so that it can be re-used. The easiest way to accomplish this is through the Reset function. To be on the safe side, always backup your course data before resetting.

In WebCT clearing the e-mail, resetting the bulletin board, deleting students, chat logs and presentation groups can all be done in the same place. The directions below begin at your course home page, on the Designer Options tab.

Note: All data will be deleted from the areas you select. Remember to print out copies of grades or download files like the student database as text files to save data before deleting.

Step 1

Click on Control Panel

Click on Manage Course

Click on Reset Course.

Click in each box to put a check mark next to all of the tools you want to reset for the coming semester.

Click on the grey Reset button to activate the process.

A dialogue box will come up warning you that all this data will be removed from your course.

Click on OK to complete the removal.

That's all there is to it! Your course is now ready to start a new semester.
