There are two types of multiple-choice questions you may add. You may add a multiple-choice question with one correct answer or a multiple-choice question with more than one correct answer.
1. Click on the Quiz/Survey link from the Homepage, Course Menu or Organizer Page. The Quizzes/Surveys screen displays.
2. Click on the Question Database link next to the Quizzes/Surveys heading. The Question Database screen displays as seen in Figure 3-9.
3. Choose the Category you wish to add questions to under the down arrow under View: all categories – Go.

4. Select the Create question drop-down menu and click on the Multiple choice option.
5. Click on the Go button to the right of the Create question drop-down menu. See Figure 3-9. The Multiple Choice Question screen displays as seen in Figure 3-10.

6. Select the category to create the question in from the Category drop-down menu if you haven’t already selected the correct category.
7. Type in the title of the question in the Title text box. (Try to make the title meaningful as this is how you will find the question in the future.)
8. Select the HTML format radio button.
9. If you are not adding an image to your question, skip the Image section.
10. Select the One answer radio button if the question you are creating has only one correct answer. Alternatively, select the Multiple answers radio button if the question you are creating will have more than one correct answer.

11. Select whether you want the Answer layout to be Horizontal or Vertical (usually vertical).
12. Select the radio button to the left of Randomized answer order if you want the Answer order to be randomised. Alternatively, select the As listed below radio button if you want the answer order to be listed as you created the question.
13. Select whether you want Numbers or Letters as the question Indices.
You are given five answers boxes by
default. Figure 3-16a and 3-16b on
page 3-10 shows four of the five possible answers. Figure 3-15 shows the Answer
2 and Feedback text boxes.

There are two different ways of choosing the correct answer. You may select the correct answer check box in the relevant answer box as seen in Figure 3-15 or you may allocate a value to the answer. In a question with only one correct answer the correct answer would get a value of 100. In a question with two correct answers the correct answers would have a value of 50% each. In a question with 4 correct answers the correct answers would each have a value of 25%
14. Type in a possible answer in the text box labelled Answer 1.
15. Enter the numeric value of the answer in the Value (%) text box.
· If you are creating a question where more than one answer is correct and you have selected the Cumulative scoring option you must place negative values in for the incorrect values.
· If you do not allocate a negative score, and place a value of 0 in for incorrect answers, the students that select all the answers will get 100%.

16. Add in the answer options for answers 2, 3, and 4.
17. Click on the More answers button if you require more than five answer blocks.
18. Type in the General feedback or rationale for the question in the text box provided. See Figure 3-17.

Click on the Save button at the base of the page.
The question is saved and displayed in a table in the Question Database screen as seen in
Figure 3-18.

20. Click on the magnifying glass next to the question Title to see a preview of the question you created. The preview of the question displays as seen in Figure 3-19 on page 3-12.

21. Select the check box to the left of the correct answer(s).
22. Click on the Grade button. The answer is marked and the results appear as seen in Figure 3-20.
23. Click on the Back button to return to preview of the question seen in Figure 3-19. Alternatively, click on the Close button if you have completed testing the question.

The answer feedback seen in Figure 3-20 is purely for the designer to test if the question is being marked correctly and is not what the student sees after completing the quiz.
