Saving Files in Rich Text Format
When distributing documentation electronically as attachments in either e-mail or on discussion boards it is always a good idea to save your file in rich text format. For example, if you send your file as a Word .doc, then only those users who have the same version of Word on their computers will be able to see it. In contrast, most word processing programs will open and display an .rtf file.
Saving a file in rich text format (.rtf) is quick and easy (under 5 minutes!) and will save everyone time and frustration.

Step 2Open the file you want to use as an attachment by selecting File – Open from the menu bar |

Step 3When the file is open, go to File – Save As… and select Rich Text Format from the drop-down list next to Save as type: then click on the Save button. |

Please Note: If you do not change the file name you will see two files by the same name in your file list – one a .doc file and one an .rtf file. Remember to select the correct file format when you insert your attachment or upload your file. |
