During a session, the librarian can also “push” websites and other information directly to the user’s computer while chatting. Librarians can also initiate a joint session with a user, which allows both parties to see the same screen. At the close of the session, users who have supplied an e-mail address will receive a transcript of the session, including links to any web pages sent by the librarian. Technology Tip of the Week - March 6, 2007
Make your text cursor more visible
Some users have complained about the text cursor (that little I beam that marks where you are typing text) being so thin that it often "disappears" into the background making it difficult to find and/or see. If this bothers you, it is possible "thicken" the text cursor so it is more visible and also change the rate at which the cursor blinks. This trick will work in both PowerPoint and Word.
From the Start button menu:
- Select Control Panel
- In Control Panel:
- Be sure you are in Classic View (all Control Panel icons are showing).
- If not, under Control Panel in the left pane, select Switch to Classic View.
- Select Accessibility Options.
- In the Accessibility Options dialog box:
- Select the Display tab.
- On the Display tab in the Cursor
Options area:
- Adjust the Blink Rate by moving the slider left for slower, right for faster.
- Adjust the Width by moving the slider left for narrower, right for wider.
- Select OK to save your settings and close the dialog box.

- To close Control Panel select the Close button.
For a quick keyboard trace of that elusive cursor:
- Go to Start button/Control Panel/Mouse.
- Click on the Pointer Options (or Visibility) tab.
- Check the box that reads "Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key."
- Click Apply and then OK.
Now whenever you lose your cursor in the wilds of your desktop, just press the CTRL key and it will show up. Now, if you could only do this with your kids......
