Scanning Slides

Scan photographic slides to be used in PowerPoint, email and the Web.

Instructions and Screenshots
Step 1

Remove the white panel from the scanner lid. This will allow light to pass through the slide being scanned.

Place gray slide holder guide onto scanner bed in order to properly align slide holder.

Insert slides into slide holder and place slide holder onto the scanner bed aligning it with the slide guide. You are now ready to scan your slides.

On the computer's desktop, double-click on the Photoshop CS shortcut icon.

Once in Photoshop, select "File/Import/Epson Twain Pro"

At the settings dialogue box, change settings to:
Document Source: TPU for Pos. Film
Image Type: 24-bit color [Std]
Destination: Screen/Web
Resolution: 96

Set source units to pixels.

Select, "Preview". You will see a "Pre-scanning in progress" message on your screen followed by a Preview screen with your slides viewable.

At this point you will need to select each slide and scan them individually. Click and hold in the left mouse button and drag over the individual slide image, release button and click scan.

Note: You may have to minimize the Preview box before clicking on Scan. 

To scan all your slides at once, simply repeat above process and click on "All" under Marquee.

Each individually scanned slide will appear in its own box (window) on your screen. You will repeat this process for each slide you wish to scan. The result will appear to be small, cascading windows on your screen.

Step 9

To save each slide, click on the blue title bar of an individual slide to make it active. Click on "File/Save As...".

In the "Save As" dialogue box be sure to designate the location to which the file will be saved.

For example: 3-1/2" floppy (A:), Zip drive (D:), etc. Name your file then click Save.
