Creating a Hyperlink to a Remote Internet Page
You can easily create links to pages on the World Wide Web by entering the URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) for the links in the Create Hyperlink dialog box. The default protocol of http:// is already entered in the URL text box for you, so all you need to do is type the Internet address of the page.
Tip: If you do not know the address of the page to which you
want to link, the Create Hyperlinks dialog box also includes the Use
your Web Browser to select a page or file button.
This button allows you to open your browser and navigate to the Web
resource to which you want to link. When you open the resource on the
Web, you switch back to FrontPage without closing your browser and the
correct protocol and address appear in the URL text box.
Steps for creating a hyperlink to a remote page:
- Open the page containing the text to which you want to link.
- Drag your mouse over the text you want to use to link to an Internet resource.
- Right-click the selected text.
- Select the Hyperlink command.
- Type the URL of the Internet resource to which you want to link (or use the Web Browser button to locate the page).
- Select OK.
Tip: Open the website you want to link to in Internet Explorer and click in the address box at the top to select the full address. Then click on Edit - Copy to save the address to the clipboard. Then switch back to your FrontPage session, select your text and choose Hyperlink. With your cursor in the address box, right-click and choose Paste. This copies the correct address into the box without having to retype it.
