Creating Screen Captures
Often it is helpful to include screen shots from your computer to illustrate a point when you are creating web pages. The IT Department has purchased several copies of TechSmith's SnagIt and Adobe Photoshop software to make it easy to do effective screen captures and optimize photos. This software is installed in the Centers for Instructional Technology (CITs) on all campuses. (For a quote on purchasing this software please contact Dawn Lewis at the Help Desk at helpdesk@ccri.edu.
For best results with your finished graphic, follow these recommended steps:

Step 3When you let go of the mouse button a SnagIt Capture Preview page will appear with the object you've selected. If the capture is satisfactory you can save it. If you don't like it, just close the capture window without saving and repeat the process. Note you can minimize the SnagIt application screen during the capture process if you wish, just don't close it. |

Step 4Select File - Save As... and choose the Tagged Image File (*.tif) format. Click on the Save button. Make a note of where you are saving the file so that you can retrieve it. Note that if the graphic is small (under 10 K in size) you may save it directly as a .gif or .jpg file instead of as a .tif file and skip the rest of these steps. |
