Page Background Color

Background color is a great way to add interest and personality to your page without adding any additional download time for the visitors to your pages. 

The default background color for many users' browsers is gray so if you would prefer that your page background color be white you need to specify that color. 

You may change the background color to whatever color you want, however keep in mind that colors that are too bright may be difficult to look at for any length of time. Also keep in mind that people with red/green color blindness make up 10 percent of the population so steer clear of these color combinations on your pages.

Background patterns can look great but can cause very slow download times for your students on home modems so it is best to avoid their use.

To change the background color of your page:

Click on Format - Background... from the menu bar

Click on the drop down arrow under Colors - Background and click on the color you want

Click on OK

Table Background Color
You may also change the color of individual table cells to differentiate information or provide extra interest. To change the color of a table or a cell in a table:

Select Table - Properties - Table

Under Background - Color click on the drop-down arrow and choose the color you want to apply to the whole table

Click on Apply then OK

To change the color of one cell:

Select Table - Properties - Cell

Under Background  - Color click on the drop-down arrow and choose the color you want to apply to just that one cell.
