Microsoft Office 2004 for MAC Installation Instructions
System requirements:
Below are the requirements needed in order to run Office 2004 Professional at MIT.
- Computer/Processor: G4 or greater, Mac OS X—compatible processor or higher
- Operating System: Apple Mac OS X version 10.3 or higher
- Memory: 256 MB or more of RAM
- Disk Space: 450 MB for a recommended install, 630 MB for a full drag-and-drop install
- Additional requirements:
- CD-ROM drive
- Internet access
Note: Performance may be degraded if the computer resources are limited by a minimum configuration.
Installation: Turn off any virus protection software that may be installed on the computer. If the computer is a PowerBook, attach to AC power source and disable sleep. Insert the CD. Open the window and double-click the installer icon. Follow the on-screen instructions
Known issues:
Note: Office 2004 will only run on OS X. If you are considering Office for earlier versions of the Mac OS, please get Office 2001 for Mac.
Installing Office 2004 for Mac
These instructions require Mac OS X 10.2.8 or newer
- Start the installation by inserting the disc into your machine
- A box should pop up giving you two options: custom install or install by "dragging and dropping" the Office 2004 icon. Install it by using the “Drag and Drop” option. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
- After the Setup Assistant finishes, download the following Office 2004
for Mac patches from http://www.microsoft.com/mac
- Download and install Office 2004 11.2.5 update
- Download and install Office 2004 11.2.6 update
Continue to check for updates until no new updates are found.
After the install, be sure to
- Restart
- Empty the trash (old copies there can cause problems)
